The design fiction entitled, “The Stoop: Speculation on Positive Futures of Black Digital Spaces” was written by myself and Dr. Casey Fiesler for GROUP 2022/2023 and it will be published in the journal Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction (PACM-HCI). In it, we imagine what a social media platform created by and for Black people could look like in an effort to inspire current platforms to better support Black and marginalized communities who use them. We also hope to inspire Black and marginalized communities to create their own digital spaces which will broaden participation in computing, programming, and the tech industry for these communities.
